I’ll bravely admit that I only read the first of the Anne of Green Gables books as a child. I liked it but it never became the obsessive relationship/guiding force that Little House or Little Women did for me. So, I can confidently say that you don’t have to be a True Blue Anne Fan to love this book. You don’t have to be adopted or have adopted. You just have to appreciate a fine, zippy writing style (I got a little green here and there — Craker’s style is so easy and charming) and an honest and really perceptive look at longing and belonging. So glad I found this one.
