I recently heard Mary Karr interviewed on On Being and wanted to re-read her memoirs. Started with this one, skipped Cherry, and am now reading Lit. Her honesty is something that at once repels and attracts me, which is probably an essential human dilemma, right? I want to know; I don’t want to know. I want to BE KNOWN; I don’t want to be known. Her honesty is her power of course. Glennon Doyle does this but Mary Karr does it better. 🙂
