Calling Invisible Women: A Novel by New York Times bestselling author Jeanne Ray who, more notably to me, is the mother of Ann Patchett! The conceit of this book, that a woman wakes up to find herself invisible and her husband doesn’t notice, was too confusing for me. I kept questioning the particulars and that makes for an uncommitted reader. The deeper issues about the value of women and the role they (and those around them) play in their “invisibility” felt left untouched to me. Too light.
