A plainly told high school story. Even with the ghost of a schooner captain, Friends With Boys is a realistic tale of life in high school. Maggie enters 9th grade after a childhood of homeschooling by her mother who has now left the family. Maggie’s three older brothers are her older friends and, despite cares of their own, in the end they come to her aid as Maggie tries to make new friends.
