[The copy I had had a gorgeous round carrying case full of children’s clothes on it]
I just read McLain’s fic-bio of Beryl Markham, Circling The Sun. When I saw this memoir, I wanted an insight into her life. I didn’t actually draw any connection between the writer of this memoir and Circling The Sun, which was written 12 years later. McLain is an excellent writer and her memoir is a very tender story of growing up us a foster child after being abandoned by her mother and left by her father who was sent to prison. How do people survive these circumstances? I can’t really tell from her book. She just did it.
