Sue Monk Kidd wrote The Secret Life of Bees and The Invention of Wings, the latter of which I just read and LOVED. She is a great writer. I thought I might hate this one because it’s about a middle-aged woman who decides she wants to “discover herself” and decides to have an affair although she’s been married for years. I was ready to judge Jessie and her journey home to Egret Island as you can see by my air quotes. 😉 But Kidd treats marriage and love and attraction and the seeking of one’s self with great care and honor.
