Where’d You Go, Bernadette: A Novel by Maria Semple. Loved this book! Baladkrishna Fox (Bee) and her mother Bernadette and her father Elgin live in Seattle. Their lives unravel and this book is Bee’s reknitting of all the facts through emails, faxes, letters — all documents that tell the story of this happy/unhappy family. Ms. Semple’s writing is great — swift, detailed, amused. I loved this. The tone reminded me of What Alice Forgot by Lianne Moriarty — amused compassion, tender but unsentimental attention to her characters. LOVE.
