Life’s Work: A Moral Argument for Choice

Dr. Parker is a traveling abortion provider who sees it as his Christian calling to supply abortions to the women of the southern US who are increasingly unable to access them.  I really wanted to hear this perspective and agree with him on a few points.  I think the sentimentalization of pregnancy is a tool used against women.  Not all women want to be pregnant when it happens.  The “life” movement has done a great job of getting around Roe v. Wade and the choice movement is absolutely NOT articulating the argument for choice in a way that all women can get behind.  Dr. Parker has been villified for his work and is understandably angry about the way he and the women he sees have been treated.  He definitely stabs back at the people he calls the “antis” and I think it undercuts his reasoning sometimes.  But this definitely was a good starting point for me in a path of reading more about women’s reproductive freedom.
