Beautiful Days of My Youth

by Ana Novac, who as a teenager survived Auschwitz and other camps.  This one is unique because it was written while in the camps, one of very few simultaneous recordings to survive.  Her spunk and spirit and sass is so like a teenager – the immediacy of her thoughts and observations grabbed me.

Suite Francaise

by Irene Nemerovsky, successful French author, who was killed in Auschwitz.  Found over 60 years posthumously and published.  Gorgeous writing.
