Emily Bell meets Sam Smith while singing a very bad rendition of “I’ll Be There” in church. Sam and Emily become deeply attached, even as Sam hides his family life from her. Holly Goldberg Smith writes with such ease and interest. I chewed this book up.

Thriller set in the world of sex trafficking. Hit all the standard thriller requirements (conflicted hero, terrifying bad guys, swift narrative, action scenes) and also a view of sex trafficking that isn’t purient, but clear-eyed and damning. Thanks for the loan, Kevin and Peri.
